Chris Hemsworth. If you know who he is, then this article is done. I really don’t need to say anything more. I’ll just give you a photo:

Ugh, fine, Editor Sarah says I have to actually say something about him. It’s not that I mind, I just find it unnecessary. I mean come on! He’s absolutely beautiful, all you really need to do is stare at his picture all day and you’ll be fine. At least, I would be... *looks away innocently*.
Ok, so things you should know about Chris Hemsworth. Well, he is 27 and he was born and raised in Australia. He is the middle child of three boys, with an older brother Luke and younger brother Liam, who both are also actors (you’ll know Liam from The Last Song, in which he starred alongside on-again off-again girlfriend Miley Cyrus). On that note, I just have to say this. HOLY CRAPOLA THIS FAMILY IS GOOD LOOKING! Seriously, somebody somewhere pulled damn good numbers in this genetic lottery, it’s almost not fair, almost.

Back to the task at hand, up until now, Chris Hemsworth is probably best known as playing Captain Kirk’s (Chris Pine) father, George Kirk, in the Star Trek revamp which came out in 2009. Before that he was more known for his television appearances on shows like Home and Away, an Australian soap opera for which he won a Logie award in 2005. Recently, he can be seen as the star of CA$h, his first major Hollywood role, and more importantly, as the title character in Marvel’s latest movie uptake, Thor (he will also be playing Thor in the upcoming take on The Avengers). Here’s a nice bit of trivia for you: for the part, as with most superhero characters, Hemsworth was asked to pack on a little bit of muscle in order to look, well, super. Ironically, he put on so much muscle that when it came time to begin filming, he no longer fit into his costume (a leather and chainmail ensemble that has become essential for the embodiment of the comic book character). Doesn’t that make you want to sigh? A man who works so hard for a part that he just becomes TOO manly? Phew, someone get me a fan….

Alright, there is one last thing I should mention in regards to Mr. Chris Hemsworth, and yes, ladies I too felt that brief stab of disappointment when I heard this: he’s married. To a Spanish actress who I’m not afraid to admit is absolutely, downright gorgeous. Talk about a good looking couple, there is some serious selective breeding going on here. The moral of the story is that you should go watch Thor, if not for the sure-to-be awesome action sequences and sweet hero/damsel in distress romance, then at least to see a very ripped Chris Hemsworth half naked. Shoot, why else do you think I’m going?

YouTube Spotlight: David So Comedy
--- Sarah Luo

“You know what UCLA stands for? U C Lot (of) Asians,” is the line that made David So known on YouTube. Prior to his vlog in response to Alexandra Wallace’s, David only had a few videos uploaded and not many fans at all. Now, with a larger audience, his videos are getting better and better. Prior to his vlogs becoming a hot topic on YouTube, he featured one of his “mockumentaries” on a b-boy named Krumpty Dumpty. The video series was quite interesting because you could see the time it took to write a sarcastic enough script and it also featured some fantastic dancers in the process.

Originally from Seoul, Korea, he now lives in Sacramento and is a stand up comedian. David notes that at first he wanted to be a singer, but he realized that his particular image didn’t fit with the kind of music he wanted to sing. He says that his image is definitely more fit for stand up comedy. Although I disagree, because his voice is absolutely fantastic and he could have been a very successful singer, perhaps stand up comedy was a better choice for him in the long run. He’s hilarious and it would be sad if we couldn’t see that side of David.

Most of his videos are vlogs of him just telling his fans what he’s been doing lately and the funny things that happen to him and although this seems boring, the way he talks about the things that happen are definitely worth watching. He’s also started a new “mockumentary” on the game of dating which is also quite an interesting series of videos to watch. Also, keep a look out for his adorable friend Chun Lee. He’s quite the character as well.

Lately, he’s been doing some stand up shows for Korean Culture Festivals so make sure you look out for him in a town near you. Just a couple weeks ago he was at San Francisco State University and last week, he was in Berkeley for a stand up show as well. The shows are cheap and they’re lots of fun, so definitely go and check them out!
David So is new to the world of YouTube bloggers, but I have no doubts that he’ll become one of the big stars just like eatyourkimchi (featured last month!). Definitely subscribe to him and see what comes up!!

TV Show Spotlight: Doctor Who
--- Angela Zhang
ALLONS-Y ALONSO!
Doctor Who is Awesome Possum

Many of you may have heard of the popular British sci-fi television show called Doctor Who, which airs on BBC/BBC America. For those of you who haven't, consider this your crash course introduction to the 'Who-niverse'!

Even before the 2005 'reboot' of the show, Doctor Who was (and is) a prevalent icon in British pop culture since its first run from 1963 to 1989. The basic premise is that there is a Time Lord called the Doctor who travels around in his spaceship/time machine called the TARDIS (which is short for Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space). You may have seen the TARDIS before, as it is stuck in the form of a blue 1950's British police box. Usually, the Doctor can be found exploring time and space in his TARDIS with a companion, facing foes with his handy-dandy Sonic Screwdriver, and occasionally popping back to Earth to help stave off hostile space denizens.

The Doctor himself is a very mysterious and quirky guy, armed with lots of strange gadgets, a quick wit, and a brilliant mind. The 2005 revival began with the ninth reincarnation of the Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston. What? Reincarnation, you ask? Well, the Doctor is a special kind of alien known as a Time Lord. He is about 900 years old, has two hearts, and whenever his body is about to die, as long as he is by the TARDIS he will regenerate into an entirely different person (a handy way to change actors!). After one season with the 9th Doctor, he regenerated into the 10th Doctor, played by David Tennant. Tennant stayed as the Doctor for four seasons, and then moved on, allowing the current reincarnation, played by Matt Smith, to take over the mantle of 'the Doctor.' Smith will be starting his second year as the Doctor with the April 23 premiere of Series 6.

This is one of those shows you really get into and when you want to rave about it to your friends, you find that trying to describe it usually ends up sounding rather lame and crazy, and you end up saying “Just watch it!!”. There is plenty of dry British humor, strange and scary aliens, touching emotional scenes, and a great plot that appeals to all ages for everyone to enjoy. There's a reason why Doctor Who holds the Guinness World Record for longest running sci-fi television show. So take a chance and try your hand at becoming a 'who-vian.' Besides, what have you got to lose? Allons-y!
